• 2019 - Position 98

    XGID=-BCDABB------------baccbd-:1:1:1:00:1:2:0:7:10

    Match Play. Red trails 1-2 to 7. Should Red redouble? If redoubled, should White take?

    For money this would be a borderline redouble and a trivial take.

    At this score the redouble is much clearer because White cannot get full value from a later redouble to 8.

    An innocuous position but even here the match score has a major influence. Not redoubling would be a very bad error.

      No Redouble/Take.

      Using Ward's adjusted pip count method (47-52), and bearing in mind the score, I'd say this is a redouble/take.

      I think this is RD/T for money, and I don't think the score changes anything.
