• 2019 - Position 73

Match Play. Red trails 0-6 (Crawford) to 7. How should Red play 55?

Everybody who commented got this one correct. Despite the gammon being meaningless to Red at this score, the best way to play the position is as a blitz.

Letting White anchor is not a good plan so bar/5* is the correct play. Any other move is at least an error.

I would play B/5* at any score and for money. Am I missing something?

Gammons mean basically nothing for either side at this score, so we can forget about that for now. In any case, I would always hit over making an inner board point here. Red has blitzing potential and, I would think, is more worried about White getting an anchor than return shots.

B/5*. Nothing to add to what has been said already.

It's difficult to imagine any play except hitting here from the bar.
