• 2019 - Position 65

Match Play. 0-0 to 7. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?

The position is certainly volatile and Red has market losing sequences. He also wins a lot of gammons, nearly a third of his wins are gammons.

However, the race is close and one good six for White will see him with the advantage. Red may also have trouble freeing those two back checkers.

This all adds up to a clear double and a clear take.

Double/take. Red has the best of it, with a stronger home board, and market losers (6/4*,4/1,3/1,4/3,1/1 )+ 66,44,33 and hitting loose on the 1pt are also strong. White can take as red's back checkers are disconnected and may not be able to wriggle out before white escapes his back checker.
