• 2019 - Position 55

Money Play. How should Red play 44?

When ahead in the race, race so we can discount 13/5(2), leaving the rear checkers stranded.

There are two ways two race: 18/10(2) and 18/14(2), 13/9(2).

18/10(2) leaves a fragile structure with two points that will be difficult to clear easily. 18/14(2), 13/9(2) is flexible and will give Red time to play safely while he waits to clear the 14-pt.

18/10(2) is nearly a quadruple blunder. Everything else is in sextuple blunder country!

Red's game plan is either to attack or run. He can't attack without leaving a blot in his home board, sos he should run with 18/14(2), 13/9(2).

18/14(2),13/9(2). The purer running option of 18/10(2) takes the pressure off white's mid-point, so I believe slightly inferior.

Being up eleven pips & on roll,I like the simple 18/10(2) here.
