Money Play. How should red play 42?

It is so easy to simply play bar/21*, 8/6 but White has a very well-timed back game and Red needs to slow down his own progress.

The correct move is bar/21*, 3/1!! This attempts to recirculate the two checkers on the 3-pt and bring them back into play. This technique was not commonplace before the advent of the bots, but the theory is now much better understood.

Bar/21*, 8/6 is very nearly blunder and any other move certainly use. So, learn the technique and re-use it when appropriate.

I seldom find myself on the defending side in backgames, but I do know what move I don't want to meet: B/21*, 3/1.
