• 2019 - Position 100

Match Play. Red leads 2-0 to 5. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?

Red is ahead in Position, Race and Threat and so for money this would be double/drop. White loses too many gammons to be able to afford to take.

At this score however, a gammon gives Red overage and, were White to turn the game around and get a recube in, then four points would get him to Crawford.

These factors combine to give White a comfortable take.

For money I would pass red's double, but at this score I think white has a take.

Perhaps one could say that the choice is between ND/T and D/D. Red's position is very strong, but I think that it's far safer just to take a roll. An undoubled gammon is not bad.

With 4 open checkers I think Red does well to wait. ND/T.If doubled, should White reship to 4? I believe I would.
