• 2018 - Position 214

Match Play. Red leads 3-1 to 7. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?

    Beware the perfectly efficient gammon!

What is an easy take for money becomes a big pass at this match score. A gammon for Red gives the match exactly. White must pass and play from 1-4 down. Better that than not to be in the match at all!

Double/take. Red leads in the race, has the better structure and two blots to shoot at. White can take as he is behind in the match and all checkers are in play.

I think Red has a cash here.
